In August 2020 John was 1st diagnosed with Stage 3b + Espohageal cancer 2 months after his father passed away. John's road to recovery was long and very expensive for his family. Much treatment available here in WI would not have extended his life past 18 months at most.
Add this to Jeri, John's wife is a right BKA ( below the knee ) amputee who relies on John for much of her care since she hasn't successfully been able to be fit for a right leg prostetic. John's cancer treatments drained their savings, as well as John lost a very gainful employment forcing John to pay big premiums for health care plans as well as thousands out of pocket non covered expensive co pays for many cancer fighting drugs, hotels in CA, testing every 3 weeks plus so many other medical bills.
Jeri was forced to get a personal care helper in home for all the time John was away. This care is still needed and has also has taken a financial toll.
Sadly, August 2022, John received the news that his cancer has returned & spread, It is unoperable, aggressive requiring immediate treatment. Out of pocket medical will be again massive.
Jeri also may require surgery to remove neuromas too high up possibly making walking impossible without the muscles needed to lift a prostetic. Jeri cannot drive without John. She needs a hand controlled package for mobility for her to atempt her to drive. Also their new home needs a ramp built to allow Jeri to get out safely in case of a fire.
In 2022, John & Jeri celebrated 30 years of marriage with a beautiful revow ceremony I was involved in. They could not guarantee John's life would exceed 18 months so this was an important event. It was beautiful to see how much love they have for each other.
Currently, John's cancer survival rate is unknown. Lots of fear and anxiety is in this family.
