Healing Hazel
Donation protected
Hi Friends and Family,
With permission from the family, we have put together this GoFundMe account for Hazel Balthrop. Even if we haven't met, being connected through Hazel and her amazing family means we have one thing in common; it's how our lives are made better by knowing them.
As you may know, Cait Balthrop is a lifelong Sacramento resident and special education instructor. Her husband Josh is a former marine, who works at Costco and attends school. They have two amazing daughters, Hazel (4) and Maisy (10 months).
The Backstory
Hazel has been ill off and on for the last six months. Between two cases of Covid, RSV with a hospital stay, norovirus and common colds scattered in between, she has struggled to stay healthy.
This week, Hazel’s parents, Cait and Josh, noticed an excess amount of bruises on Hazel’s skin that called for concern. They contacted her doctor and took Hazel in for a blood panel. A few hours later, the doctor called and told them that they needed to get Hazel to the hospital immediately because her blood levels were critical. The following day, Hazel was diagnosed with leukemia. Hazel will not be able to attend school for the rest of the year and is facing at least two and a half years of treatment.
This news has sparked an overwhelming response from friends, family and community members asking for ways to help. Our hope is that this will allow people the chance to help where they can.
The Plan
Our current goal is to raise $75k that will go towards medical bills, hospital stays, food and months of reduced income for the Balthrop family as they navigate the road to recovery and raise their two girls.
Thank you, from the bottom our hearts, for your love and concern for our sweet Hazel and her family. Every prayer is appreciated and felt deeply. We pray that our sweet Hazel recover as soon as possible!
With love,
