Agape House Ambulance Fund
There are not enough ambulances available in the city of Kampala, Uganda or the surrounding areas of Wakiso and Mpigi. Taxi’s (public transportation) boda boda (public transportation bikes) and police patrol trucks are the only sources of transportation in response to an accident or emergency in the city and its two districts that are home to approximately 3 million residents. In addition, due to the global pandemic, the hours of operation and number of individuals permitted to use the transportation service have been significantly reduced. When time and resources are essential in responding to a medical crisis, a taxi is not able to provide immediate life-saving care. Local and State Government assistance is sparse, and the community can no longer afford to wait. The maternal mortality rate in Uganda is 343 per 100k live births. These numbers alone are staggering proof of the urgent need for an emergency vehicle to serve these communities immediately.
That is why I have created this campaign to support Joseph Sserwadda Roberts, Project Director at Agape Children’s Home in Kampala, Uganda.
I have been working with Joseph for over a decade and can attest to the support and selfless, amazing, and heroic work that Joseph and his team are doing on a daily basis. Please join me in raising funds for this urgent need.
