I have been employed by Printing Solutions, Inc. for 33+ years. That was my home away from home. I loved my job!
During that time I developed relationships with my customers. I didn’t consider them customers, I considered them friends. We got to know each other, shared stories about family, sports, news, etc.
At the end of November, Printing Solutions received notice that the new landlord wanted our units for his own business. He gave us 30 days to vacate. We asked for a 30 day extension and he did accommodate us.
My employment was terminated by the president of Printing Solutions on Jan. 5, 2024. I was kind of scared. The thoughts running through my mind....“what am I going to do for work, this is all I’ve known for over 30 years”, “I have to start a new job with a new employer?” “I don’t want to work with anyone else” (Darlene and I have been side by side for so long).
What happened over the next few weeks was overwhelming. Word started to get out that Printing Solutions was closing it’s doors. Folks starting stopping continuously. They all had the same reaction: “you can’t leave”, “where am I going to go”, “there’s no one else that can do my work like you do”. It became emotional for Darlene and I.
I talked with Darlene about opening my own print shop and she though it was a great idea. I asked her if she would consider coming to work for me and without hesitation she was on board.
We received a phone call that there would be an opening at 224 Littleton Road and we both agreed that location would be perfect. Pro Print, LLC was established!
We have to start from scratch!!
We have been making appointments to look at equipment and decide which machines would best meet the needs of our customers. However, leasing printers isn’t easy these days, especially for a start up company that doesn’t have any credit. (Although I have many years of experience in the printing industry, it doesn’t matter.)
A very supportive Westford friend suggested a fundraiser to help with some of the start up costs. I was a little reluctant at first, but she said that people would love to help out. We are looking to purchase: computers, a color printer (KM C4065, $35,000)
a black and white printer (KM 1100 refurbished, $4,000), a wide format printer for engineering drawings (HP XL3600, $10,500),
as well as miscellaneous office equipment.
Our doors will be ready to open on March 1, 2024 at 224 LIttleton Road, next door to MacKay's Ace Hardware. Congratulations to Westford Insurance on their relocation!! They are staying in Westford and will be making announcements soon!
Thank you all for your continued support and our push to open the doors ready to roll with your orders!
See you soon at Pro Print!
Kathy and Darlene
