Please SUPPORT US for the 2nd Annual…“Olson it ABOUT time to Cure ALS!”
Due to the pandemic we are unable to host a live cornhole tournament so we're going virtual to raise much needed funds for George Olson and his family.

Dearest Friends and Family,

We hope you’re continuing to stay healthy and happy during this difficult pandemic.

At our 1st fundraiser for ALS last fall, we quoted St. Francis of Assisi saying, “There’s not enough darkness in the world to put out the light of one small candle’s flame.” Your continual love and support represent that light, and always give us hope during this very difficult time.

It’s been almost 3 years since George started battling ALS. You all know that George has unique mental and physical strength, determination, and relentlessness. This, and our immense love for him compel us every day to fight our absolute best battle, which we intend to win.

To this end, we continue to secure all medications and supplements shown effective against ALS. While there’s still no cure, these treatments slow the progression of the disease, buying precious time. Some also ease symptoms and suffering.

We respectfully request your financial support to help George. While several medications and supplements have shown good results in clinical trials, only 2 are FDA approved. Insurance doesn’t cover anything that’s not FDA approved for ALS. Time and prognosis don’t permit us to wait years for FDA approval, so instead we simply continue to purchase everything that can help George now, for thousands of dollars each month. Any contribution you can make is deeply appreciated.

Last year we gave every penny we raised to the world’s best ALS Clinic, The Healey Center, at Mass General Hospital, Boston. This year, we need to use donations to help George as just explained. However, part of the funds raised here will go to our Healey Center at Mass General, where we are incredibly fortunate to have George cared for. Donations fuel exceptional research and care, managed by George’s Neurologist, Dr.  James Berry, Director of the Healey Center and ALS Division. We can’t say enough about how brilliant, caring, and helpful Dr. Berry is. His staff is phenomenal also. As we’re continuously furiously learning everything about ALS from numerous venues and sources, it’s apparent The Healey Center continues to be on the cutting edge of science and helpful treatments. The Healey Center epitomizes success by having the most knowledgeable researchers and the most promising new treatments, all while providing exceptional patient care. We tease Dr. Berry that when he runs late for George’s appointments, it’s fine, because we know it’s because he’s just discovered something amazing in the Lab! Lastly, Dr. Berry and the Healey Center are responsible for starting George, a year ago, on one of the top five most promising new ALS drugs worldwide.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for supporting George, as well as Mass General’s Healey Center. Please listen to Dr. Berry’s very quick update on progress made the past year toward curing ALS, as well as a few words about his patient, George. It’s worth hearing.

We’re all thinking lately, “What is Essential?” For us, it’s Faith, Love and Health. We have faith George can heal, and ALS can be cured. Your love inspires us every day. Health…. You never truly recognize the incredible gift it is until you don’t have it. Live well our loved ones.

God bless you. Thank you. We love you.

Marisa, George, Zachary & Nicholas

College students Zach (21) and Nick (18) chose to live at home for College and help care for their dad.   Good thing because little Marisa is TOUGH but couldn't do it alone!
