As many know Ryan had her third child via emergency C-Section on 9/14/19, Henry Cowyn. She was sent home from the hospital on 9/16. As they were adjusting to their new family of 5 Ryan was noticing symptoms that felt unusual including fever, chills, and headache. She went to the hospital but was told her incision looked fine and to follow up with her doctor if she didn't improve. She continued to feel unwell and called the on call doctor on two different days. She was told she most likely had a virus and it was unrelated to her C-Section.
Early on the morning of Monday 9/23 Ryan was taken by ambulance to the local hospital. She experienced a seizure, was sedated and intubated (breathing tube). They then took her by helicopter to nearby Chapel Hill hospital. There they did a CT scan which showed infection in and around her uterus. She was experiencing septic shock and went into emergency surgery where she had a hysterectomy.
She is currently in the ICU. They were able to extubate her (remove her breathing tube) but she still has a long road to recovery. While she is in the ICU she is unable to see any of the kids including Cowyn.
Ryan is the most selfless and loving person I know. She would do anything to help anyone. I would love to help lift some burden from her during this trying time.
Ryan works at the airport and if she doesn't work she doesn't get paid. She doesn't have a maternity benefit so she saved up to have enough money to cover her leave. Austin recently started a job and isn’t eligible for FMLA yet so this time he’s taking off to be with Ryan is unpaid. Due to the current situation Ryan will need to be out of work longer than expected. Also, she is going to need to put Hayes ( who is just under 2) in daycare to decrease her burden when she returns home.
The added expense of medical bills, daycare, and an extended leave will be a hardship on their family. Ryan needs to rest and not worry about financial responsibilities for the next couple of months.
If you're able to donate it is much appreciated. If you are not in a position we still appreciate prayers for her healing.
Updates will be provided in the days to come.
Thank you!

My name is Beth Jorgensen and I have been best friends with Ryan for the last 23 years. She is family to me. The funds from this campaign will be withdrawn then transferred to Ryan's bank account. Ryan has requested that half of it be in cash as that is how she pays her rent.
The funds will be used in the following ways:
1. To pay rent for the next 3 months
2. To pay for daycare for Hayes
3. To pay for car payment, cell phone bills, utilities, and other bills in order to allow Ryan to stay home longer to rest and recover.
4. Medical bills
