Our Story
On September 5th 2010 my husband Patrick and I were enjoying a day at the beach with family and friends. As the day was coming to a close, little did we know, our lives were about to change forever.

Patrick was helping friends get ready to end a perfect day and went for one last swim. An innocent act that dealt him a bitter tragedy. Unaware of a recently formed sand bar, Patrick dove in and broke his neck. Instantly paralyzed and unable to move his limbs, he came within seconds of death.
Holding my five-month-old daughter Giada, I watched from the beach, as Patrick was pulled helpless from the water. From that moment, life as we knew it would never be the same.
The battle ahead was one that no one could have fathomed; yet somehow, after 5 years of struggle, Patrick has found some peace in life. He is currently living at home with Giada and I. With round the clock nursing assistance and help from family, Patrick continues to strive for a brighter future.
Unfortunately our financial burdens have become overwhelming!
Due to mounting debt, we've decided the time is right to find a new home and downsize. This will free us from many of our current financial hardships.
Our new place needs some work to be made accessible, but it suits our needs and has a ginormous backyard for Patrick and Giada to start up a whole new and even bigger vegetable garden!
This time, we're growing everything organically!

Even with me working full time and all the help from family, there are some expenses that remain unattainable without your help.
Currently we are campaigning to raise funds to purchase a standing power chair that can truly enhance Patrick’s quality of life.

The new chair will allow him to be in a standing position, (something most of us take for granted).
The upright posture will help Patrick in several ways:
• It will help reduce the occurance of pressure sores and other circulation issues.
• Allow for a greater range of interacting with his surroundings.
• Aid in proper digestion and improve Patrick's gastrointestinal funtioning.
• Allow Patrick to engage more comfortably in social environments.
A standing power chair is quite a pricey item! The standing option goes for over $15,000 and is not covered by our insurance. We have set our goal to cover the out-of-pocket cost and the added funding fees.
Any funds exceeding the goal will be put towards construction upgrades to make our new home handicapped accessible and suitable for Patrick’s care.
Thank you for your donations. They are so greatly appreciated!
Above all things we appreciate everyone’s kind thoughts and prayers. We couldn't imagine what it would be like without this kind of support from so many loved ones. One of the most generous things you can do is to simply help spread the word for this campaign, so please share it around with Facebook, email and other social media as much as possible!
