Hi everyone, my name is Jekaterina, and I am reaching out to you today during one of the most terrifying moments of my life.
I urgently need major open abdominal surgery, and I simply cannot afford to wait any longer. I feel terrified writing this, but it is too painful to keep it to myself, so it is time to share what I am going through.
Time and time again, I went to see the gynecologist just to be prescribed more tablets with no real long-term solution to my problem.
For an agonizing last year while still living in the UK, I waited and begged for a surgical referral, but it never came.
The public healthcare wait times were immense, and my condition continued to worsen.
Recently, I moved abroad to Penang, Malaysia, as a digital nomad, and I finally managed to get the comprehensive MRI scan I so desperately needed.
The results were devastating. The scan revealed an enlarged uterine fibroid with a high suspicion of malignant transformation—meaning it could be cancerous.
Alongside this, I have a bleeding ovarian cyst and endometriosis.
Because of the cancer risk, my doctor has strongly advised against robotic or keyhole surgery.
I must undergo an urgent open pelvic operation (either a total hysterectomy or a complex removal of the masses) so the surgeon can safely extract the tissue in one piece without risking the spread of potential cancer cells.
Because a definitive cancer diagnosis can only be made after the mass is fully removed and tested, my life literally depends on getting this operation as quickly as possible.
The longer I wait, the higher the risk that the suspected cancer could spread.
I have made the difficult decision to fund this surgery privately rather than returning to the back of a years-long waiting list in the UK.
Unfortunately, my travel insurance does not cover pre-existing conditions and the out-of-pocket costs for a major private surgery, the inpatient hospital stay, and the specialized pathology testing are completely overwhelming.
Obviously, I'm reaching out and trying to get help from my closest family and friends first.
Any contribution, no matter how small, will go directly toward my hospital deposits and surgical fees so I can get this life-saving procedure immediately.
If you are unable to donate, simply sharing this page with your friends, family, and network would mean the absolute world to me.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your support, kindness, and for helping me get my life back.
