On what should have been a peaceful morning, Sunday, September 7th, Kal and Teah Moxley of Havelock were dealt a devastating blow. Their essential farm truck and tractor—the very backbone of their daily operation—were stolen from their property.

While there was a moment of relief when the truck and tractor were recovered by the police, the relief was short-lived. The thief inflicted over $35,000 in damage to Kal's work truck, and the 1957 Massey Ferguson tractor will also need significant and costly repairs.

For farmers like Kal and Teah, their equipment isn't a luxury; it's their livelihood. It's how they plant, harvest, and maintain the land that feeds our community. This senseless act of theft didn't just steal a vehicle; it stole their ability to work, their sense of security, and threatens the stability of their farm.

The financial burden of these repairs is immense and comes at a time when every dollar is already allocated to the rhythms of the farming season. Insurance will not cover all of the losses.
