Our beloved cousin in St. Elizabeth, Jamaica recently lost her roof after Hurricane Melissa ripped threw. In addition, her grandmother and uncle lost their entire homes. In just a few moments, everything they had built — from their furniture to treasured family photos — was gone. Now several families are displaced with no possessions and no home.

My name is Kendra and we live in Canada. My husband's family is from Jamaica. He's got several family members who survived the storm and who's houses were spared. However, the Samuels family in Black River, St. Elizabeth were not so lucky.

The Samuels family has always been known for their kindness and generosity — opening their doors to neighbours, sharing meals, and supporting their community through tough times. Now, they are the ones in need of support.

They are currently staying with relatives in temporary shelter, but they have no means to rebuild on their own. Funds raised will go toward rebuilding their home, replacing essential items (beds, clothing, kitchen supplies), and helping them get back on their feet.

We are hoping to raise $25,000 to cover:

Basic building materials and labour for reconstruction

Furniture and appliances

Temporary housing costs until their home is livable again

Every donation, no matter the size, brings this family one step closer to having a safe place to call home again.
