After the Eaton Fire: Help for the Block Family

It's with a heavy but hopeful heart that I ask for your help in supporting my dear friends, the Block family, after they lost everything to the Eaton fire in Altadena, CA.

Those who know Lauren, Josh, and their nine-year-old daughter, Birdie (and their beloved pups, Hattie and Dottie, of course), easily count them among their favorite people. They exude compassion, kindness and generosity! The Blocks moved to Los Angeles from Texas 3 years ago and had just purchased their house in December of 2023; they've been working hard to build their life here. Josh's career is in music and he was in the process of building his studio in Altadena; he'd moved all of his instruments and production gear to the home to work in while he did so, including one of a kind historic pieces that years of resources and funds went into restoring. All of this is lost, alone a huge financial hit, but the impact on Josh's ability to work as a result is even bigger; it will be some time before the family's income is stable again. Lauren is the owner of a clothing brand, Hey Gang, and with hard work and determination, had just opened her store in Highland Park this past November. Around the same time, the family found out the wonderful news that they'll be expanding with the arrival of twins this year!

While they hope that insurance will eventually help them rebuild, the process remains uncertain and could take time. The Blocks left their home quickly with no more than a few overnight bags, so all funds gathered will directly support them by helping to cover immediate needs, additional unforeseen costs, and to give them some security as they work to regain their footing. I have seen the way that our community has been rallying to help the families affected by these fires; if you can, please consider helping this truly beautiful family as well.
