After Stroke Therapy for David Kellogg

Donation protected
Our dad (David Kellogg) recently (Oct. 13th at 10 pm)had a very severe hemorrhagic stroke. He spent 18 days in ICU, a few days in step down, and a few days in long-term before being discharged to a nursing home to be closer to home. He is currently in a nursing home.  This is covered on a limited basis by family and Medicaid is pending.

Five years ago he was diagnosed with acute psychosis and bipolar disorder.  Unfortunately, he views these mental struggles as being spiritually necessary and has not continued treatment.  It has recently been revealed that undiagnosed high blood pressure is likely the root cause of this diagnosis.  During this difficult time, he divorced his wife, who out of compassion and love, has paid most of his bills and allowed him to continue to live under the same roof. She and all other sources are at their limits of income to be able to improve care.

He is 50 years old and had no physical impairments before the stroke. He needs more therapy than the 30 min 3 times a week that the home can provide. He lies there awake needing to be up and working out. He has the desire to do way more and a future that can be had with more therapy. Medicaid will not cover the acute therapy that he needs. We feel the recovery window closing rapidly.

He's a very loving grandpa to 3 sweet grandkids. It is definitely difficult to see our strong, hardworking dad in this frail state. He's a good man who has worked hard most of his life and has gone out of his way many times to help others. The kind of man who would drop everything he was doing to help a friend in need. It is his turn to be helped. We love him very much and want to see him get the best care possible.

Thank you so much to everyone who has helped already. It has been greatly appreciated.
