On May 22, 2025, a fire broke out in Shannon and Emma Gonzalez’s home, leaving them displaced and facing a long road to rebuild. Thankfully they’re safe — but just about everything else was lost or damaged.
This would be hard for anyone, but for Shannon and Emma (14), it’s the latest in a string of tough years. In 2019, they lost Alex — Shannon’s husband and Emma’s dad — to cancer. Since then, it’s felt like one challenge after another with a number of health and financial emergencies over the last six years.
They had just gotten back on their feet after dealing with water damage and mold, which meant many expensive repairs: a new roof, new windows, full kitchen and bathroom remodels, new AC — you name it. Shannon had just finished it all. They were finally feeling settled again, and now this.
Insurance will cover some of the damage, but not all. They’ll need to replace almost everything, pay deductibles, and cover temporary living expenses while their home is being repaired — which could take six months or more.
We’ve set a fundraising goal to help them bridge the gap and get through this incredibly difficult time. Every donation — big or small — will help them rebuild. And if you’re not in a place to give, sharing this page is another powerful way to help.
Let’s show Shannon and Emma that they’re not alone.
Thank you for your support, love, and kindness.
