Hi there!
My name is Miranda Kreinbrink, and I am raising money for my grandparents, Pat and Frank Gačnik.
On October 21st, around 4 p.m., my grandparents experienced a fire in their basement. Thankfully, they both made it out safely. However, due to heavy smoke and large flames, their home has suffered devastating damage. The basement—where my aunts and uncles grew up, where my cousins and I made so many memories, and where countless photos were stored—is completely destroyed.
This event has truly broken our family’s hearts. My grandparents are now having to leave their beloved home and move into senior housing. While we are grateful they are safe and have a new place to live, it’s heartbreaking to know that the home they built together will need to be fully gutted and re-built.
Whether you know my grandparents or not, they are truly some of the most amazing and selfless people. They have dedicated their entire lives to helping others and standing up for justice:
- They were named Man and Woman of the Year in Arvada.
- My grandpa started the Food Bank in Arvada and was instrumental in maintaining the Food Bank for Migrant Workers in Brighton.
- They assisted with housing for Vietnamese immigrants in the 1980s.
- They helped families from Bosnia who were fleeing the war find safety and new homes in Colorado.
- They served as a Vice-President couple of The Christian Family Movement.
- They have volunteered countless hours at shelters, youth homes, food banks, and on the Social Justice Committee at Spirit of Christ.
My grandparents have spent their entire lives serving others, giving to anyone in need, and living out their faith through action and compassion. Now, after all they’ve given to their community, they are the ones in need.
We are raising funds to help with the many unexpected costs they are now facing—from moving expenses to senior living costs, and other needs as they adjust to this next chapter. Any donation, no matter how small, would mean so much to our family and help honor the incredible legacy of love and service they’ve built.
