Afscheid Patrick van Velthoven

Beste oud-collega, relatie, vriend van Patrick,

Patrick is overleden. Zijn laatste momenten bracht hij door met zijn zoon en dochter, en in de dagen ervoor was hij omringd door een kleine kring van naaste familie en vrienden.

Voor Patrick draaide alles in zijn laatste weken om het welzijn van zijn kinderen. Hij heeft er alles aan gedaan om Bodine (16) en Rubin (22) zo goed mogelijk achter te laten.

Wie Patrick kende, weet hoeveel zijn werk voor hem betekende. Ook zijn werkrelaties — zijn collega’s, jij — waren belangrijk voor hem. We waren niet alleen collega’s, maar ook vrienden. In zijn laatste fase heeft hij veel steun gehad aan zijn oud-collega’s, zijn vrienden.

Patrick is niet rijk gestorven. Rubin en Bodine zijn jong en doen wat ze kunnen, maar het is moeilijk. Daarom wil ik je vragen om te helpen.

We willen een waardig afscheid voor Patrick mogelijk maken. Een uitvaart die recht doet aan wie hij was, maar vooral ook aan Rubin en Bodine laat zien dat er goedheid bestaat in de wereld. Dat vriendschap betekenis heeft. Dat ze niet alleen staan in hun eerste stappen door het leven zonder hun vader. Dit was het enige wat Patrick nog wilde.

Dear former colleague, work relation, friend of Patrick,

Patrick has just passed away. He spent his final moments with his son and daughter, and the days leading up to his passing surrounded by a small circle of close family and friends.

In the end, the only thing that truly mattered to Patrick was the well-being of his children. In recent weeks, he did everything in his power to ensure Bodine (16) and Rubin (22) would be okay after he was gone.

Anyone who knew Patrick knows how much his work meant to him before he became ill. And just as importantly, the relationships he built through that work—his colleagues, relations, including you—meant a great deal to him. We weren’t just coworkers; we were friends. In his final days, Patrick drew strength from those friendships.

Patrick did not die a wealthy man, and had little insurance. Rubin and Bodine are very young and are trying to do what they can, but it’s not easy…

That’s why I’m reaching out to you—not just as a former colleague or work connection, but as a friend of Patrick—to ask for your help and support.

We want to give Patrick a farewell that honors who he was. A funeral that not only reflects his life, but also shows Rubin and Bodine that there is kindness in the world, that friendship matters, and that they are not alone as they take their first steps into life without their father.

This was the only thing Patrick still wished for.
