Jack's friends need rescuing! Will you help?

Look at that face! So handsome. So regal. But Jack didn't always look that way.

Jack and his sister (pictured above) were dumped onto the side of the road in rural Kansas. They were unwanted and neglected, like so many pets in America. After being found in a ditch, they were picked up by animal control and taken to the local shelter where a group of volunteers transferred them to a Colorado animal rescue that I happened to be volunteering with.
When Jack arrived, he was covered in fleas, ticks and had a bad case of mange. He had scars all over his body, and he was so thin you could see every rib. Well, if you know anything about me, as quickly as he arrived to the rescue, he was in the back of my car and heading home.
After five days with Jack, I knew he was my soulmate. And if you've ever met him, you know just how special he is. He's part German Shepherd, part Doberman, and definitely part human. There is wisdom behind his big brown eyes.

Here we are, 9 years later, and Jack is aging like a fine wine. He's a world class traveler, certified therapy dog, an Olympic swimmer (What?! I'm biased.) and he has been my rock since the day I adopted him.
If the rescue hadn't agreed to pull him from that kill-shelter and bring him to Colorado, Jack would have been euthanized...let that sink in.
That's the sad reality that we're facing. Over 7 million animals enter shelters every year, and nearly 4 million don't make it out alive. Over 5,000 dogs are euthanized EVERY DAY. This isn't acceptable, and it's time we do something about it.
That’s where you come in!
Introducing A Friend of Jack Rescue. A lifelong dream of mine. My passion project. My calling. My purpose.
After years of volunteering for local rescues, nonprofits, fostering countless dogs, educating everyone around me, and doing absolutely everything I could to convince my family and friends to "Adopt, Don't Shop.", I finally decided it was time to do more.
A Friend of Jack is a foster-based 501(c)(3) non-profit dedicated to finding loving, lasting homes for unwanted dogs and puppies. We pull these dogs from high-kill shelters in surrounding states and coordinate transportation to Colorado where they'll start their new lives. With your help, we can save so many more and give them the life they deserve.
So what does help look like?! I am so glad you asked!
DONATIONS.**
We are ready to get our first puppy transport on the books. We have fosters signed up, (some) supplies ready, and all the motivation in the world. The one thing we're lacking? Money.
We need to provide food, medication, vaccines, supplies, microchips, etc. for EACH puppy that we bring into our care, and every single one of these things costs money.
Pre-transport vetting can cost anywhere between $75-150.
Transportation can cost up to $50 per dog.
Spay/neuter (if the dog is old enough) can cost up to $400.
Supplies for fosters cost on average $100/week...and that's assuming the dog is in perfect health! All it takes is one sick puppy (heaven forbid), and we're in a deficit.
Obviously, we make some of these funds back through our adoption fees, but it's never enough.
We have also created an Amazon Shopping List with a variety of supplies that we still need. Crates, toys, pee pads, etc. We would love your help getting some of those items purchased!
Additionally, if you have any towels, blankets, dog toys, leashes, collars, ANYTHING, we will take it. I am happy to pick them up if you're local, you can ship them to my house (shoot me an email and I'll give you my address), or you can drop them off with any one of our volunteers (list is below).
So, I'm asking you to support my dream. To help me save lives. Any amount helps, and know that I am so grateful, appreciative and lucky to have family and friends that are always behind me. I cannot tell you how excited I am to get this adventure started. I'm finally chasing my dream and finding my purpose.
All our love,
Allie, Jack, Olive & the rest of the Rescue Team
