Hi! AFRICA.ROCKS is a pan-African editorial platform dedicated to rock, metal and alternative music from across the African continent. Through news, interviews, reviews, features and scene reports, we give space to African bands that are still too often ignored by the international music press.

Our first physical compilation is now out. With the support of Season of Mist (distribution through their online shop), we brought together 15 bands from 15 African countries on one CD, creating a physical document of scenes that rarely appear together on an international release.

Now we want to make Volume II.

The idea remains the same: bring together bands from across Africa, with the new compilation focusing on countries and artists different from those represented on the first volume. This time, however, we need your help.

Production costs have increased considerably, and creating a physical compilation involves much more than pressing the CDs. We need to cover manufacturing, shipping, packaging and other production expenses. We also want the artwork to once again be created by an African artist, making the visual side of the release part of the project.

Every contribution will go directly towards making the second compilation possible.

AFRICA.ROCKS is an independent project. Supporting this campaign means helping us put African bands onto a physical release, send their music beyond their own scenes and countries, and continue documenting a part of heavy music that deserves far greater international attention.

The first volume proved that this could be done. Now we want to continue.

Thank you!

Joel Costa
