On Mission with Africa Mercy!

Hello friends!
I am beyond excited to share with you that I will be setting sail on July 24, 2016 to serve as a pediatric nurse with Mercy Ships in Benin, West Africa. Just about a week away!
A little bit of my story: When I was 17-years-old, I was working at a rural clinic in Haiti when the Comfort Ship docked in Port-au-Prince. Many of our patients traveled to the ship in desperate need of surgery. I was able to see the transformations of lives. I immediately fell in love with the concept of such an organization, bringing hope & healing to those who had none.
As I went through nursing school, graduated, and gained experience, the memory of the ship remained with me. Seven years later I have received my invitation to join them in South Africa on July 24th.
There are no words that can possibly express my excitement!
The Africa Mercy, a state-of-the-art hospital ship, is fully operated by a volunteer crew, providing various surgeries, including maxillofacial, plastic reconstructive, orthopedic, women’s health, eye care, and oral health. While docked, the crew also teaches, trains, and equips local professionals to be able to care for their own.
I have committed to 5 months of service on the ship, but may extend up to 10 months. Between 10 months of living expenses and travel, the full expense is $10,000. I would be so very thankful if you would join me by helping make this possible.
