This is Tanzanian tennis coach Majuto Majaliwa and three of his students, Hamisi, Happy and Nasma, who have been selected to participate in the "Under 12 African Junior Tennis Tournament" in Kigali (Rwanda) from 27 April to 1 May 2022.
Majuto is a professional tennis coach in Dar-es-Salaam (Tanzania). He is from a very poor background, but has been able to make a middle-class life for himself and his family thanks to tennis. As a child, he learned to play tennis, he competed in national, regional and then continent-wide tennis tournaments and later won a scholarship to train for one year in South Africa with the continent’s top players. Subsequently, Majuto became certified as a tennis coach and makes his living teaching tennis to paying clients in Dar-es-Salaam. On weekends and school holidays, Majuto volunteers his time and talent to train youth from poor families to play tennis. He wants to help transform the lives of youth the way tennis transformed his life.
The three children from Majuto’s program selected to represent Tanzania in the Under 12 African Junior Tennis Tournament dream of becoming professional tennis players and lifting themselves out of poverty with their talent and dedicated training.
To be able to participate in the tournament in Kigali, the team needs financial help to cover the costs of airfare, accommodation and travel related expense such as PCR testing. We have mounted this crowd-funding site to raise the funds that Majuto and the three players need to travel and compete in Kigali.
Please participate in this campaign “Love All: Serving the Underserved”. A donation of even a small amount will help Majuto and the three kids to be able to travel to Rwanda and fulfil their dreams.
Thanks in advance for your support,
Nicole and Cori on behalf of Coach Majuto
