William's Kenya Filmmaking Journey

Hello! My name is William Willer.
I'm a young filmmaker with a passion to tell stories that impact people in a personal way. Over the past few years, I've had opportunities to work on many film projects here in the US... short films, documentaries, and even a feature film.
This month, I'm planning my biggest adventure yet: A journey to Kenya, Africa to film a documentary with Global Hope Network International (GHNI) about an amazing story of two African villages (learn the story on the short video above).
GNHI is a humanitarian aid group that focuses on helping villages to rebuild, stay rebuilt, and thrive. Thriving villages are self-sustainable, productive, and can provide for others as well. Using their Transformational Community Devolopment program (TCD), GNHI is able to accomplish this!
The documentary I'm going to work on will follow the journey of two villages, Attir and Gambella (both part of the TCD programs), from their initial dependence on the food trucks, to successes with GHNI, to tribal warfare and near failure, and at last to a healed and thriving community.
To embark on the journey and tell this story, I have to raise all my own expenses!
My expenses include travel costs and daily expenses such as food/lodging for 2 weeks, plus additional funding for some of the crew's equipment.
Travel/Food/Lodging $ 5540
Additional Equipment $ 2760
Total $ 8300
It totals to approximately $8300, which must be raised by Saturday, November 19th, 2016. That's less than 1 week away.
Filmmaking is my life's calling. When people ask me if I'm excited about going to Africa, I laugh. Me? Excited about an amazing adventure that means driving all day in a Land Rover, squinting in the hot sun, sleeping in mosquito nets, confronting no small danger, and coming home with a changed life?
By all means, and in all ways, YES! I can't wait.
Please join my team! I heartily welcome all the help I can get. Let's go on an adventure. Let's tell a story. Let's make a movie.
