dearest support network,
friends, family, community, peers, colleagues, former teachers, current teachers, mentors, etc... I come to you in a moment that feels of the utmost significance to me at this stage in my career. I have been selected, among only 29 other dancers from all over the world, to participate in a month long development residency culminating in a performance & film with two renowned choreographers that will take place this summer in Lisbon, Portugal. My training was mostly classical from a young age , yet it was mixed up enough with other genres that I have never truly felt I fit into a specific "medium" within the dance world. I attribute my specialty to this sense of never fitting the mold and see it as an opportunity, not something that limits me. However, I am truly compelled in a way by the work of these two choreographers... enough that I can see the truest version of myself participating in this type of rigorous study and performance. Please, help me experience it, firsthand. I have never been in a financial position to spend money on workshops or far away summer programs... but I have also never called upon my community to support me in my pursuit of further education and professional development.
Help me, so that I can work harder, and harder, and harder at what I do best.
If 100 people donate $20, I will have met my goal. I think I might know 100 people who believe in me. My proposal to you is, if I can participate in this workshop I will have more insight into diversified cultural perspectives in the arts, and therefore, be able to encompass and transcend these barriers in the work I bring back to NYC and the depraved United States of the ARTS of current times. I am very passionate on this topic and your support would mean the world to me. Thank you.
And, if you give more than $20, I promise to send you a personalized short dance film to a song of your choice.
