AFM Documentary Production Push

Stories don’t wait until we’re ready to film them. Join us to complete the project.

We’ve stretched every dollar from our original Kickstarter funding by hiring an award-winning film team, developing a compelling story, and completing 50% of our production days.

We’re at a crossroads. The story continues to unfold and we need funding to ensure we do not miss any essential moments. Your support will help finish filming and hire an editor to begin the post-production process.

Join us in finishing STRONG and making this project a reality.

This film will save lives. Your contribution will get these stories to current and future medical personnel, parents, philanthropists, and researchers. Let’s fight for these families as hard as they’ve fought alone for so long.

How does this film help the community directly?

Awareness is everything. When parents and caregivers recognize AFM (Acute Flaccid Myelitis) they can advocate and find medical care sooner. When doctors recognize AFM early intervention can begin. When legislators know about AFM, better health initiatives, research, and support can be funded. After 8 years of AFM monitoring and surveillance, so many still have yet to hear of AFM.

The film can reach an entire new audience. With our film experts and story consultant, we are creating this film with a research-backed storytelling process proven to connect with audiences and impact perceptions.

This story is happening now! We’ve started filming three incredible families in the middle of their journeys. Funding is necessary for us to continue so we don’t miss out.

Two ways to give

You can contribute directly to the production through this GoFundMe Page or head over to our Fiscal Sponsor, The International Documentary Association, to give a tax-deductible donation.

$25 and up will get you a digital copy of the film. Later this week we’ll also announce prizes for the top 3 donors.

Want to know more about our plans this summer and beyond? Here's what your support will accomplish.

Why is this film so important?

Leaving a Legacy
Scott Potter was a filmmaker who wanted to change the world with stories. His unexpected passing left his wife Sarah broken and longing to preserve his purpose. With a filmmaker community that came in for support, Sarah decided to complete this film Scott began making in 2018.

Phase 1: Completed

We raised $101,469 from 672 amazing supporters last year which allowed us to hire an award-winning crew, complete pre-production, and half of the production

Phase 2: In Progress

The story doesn’t wait until you’re ready. We are right in the middle of these families’ stories unfolding. We’ve stretched every dollar we’ve raised to bring us up until this moment. To make sure we don’t miss out on these critical moments, we are fast-tracking our next funding goal to raise $50,000 by the end of May.

Phase 3: Coming Soon

Once production is complete, we move into post-production. We'll secure funds to craft the story, edit the footage, and add finishing touches like color grading, audio mixing, and music licensing. We're planning exciting distribution channels, including theater screenings, streaming, conferences, and a university tour.

Your support can make all the difference. Thank you for considering our project.
