Dear Friends, because of my painful and progressive case of peripheryl neuropathy, I can no longer make a living as I have in the past (pastoring, conference speaking, and teaching full-time in academic settings). I receive a small amount of missionary support through those who faithfully give to my non-profit,
Radical Middle Ministries, but it is not enough to sustain us. Essentially the Lord has put me between a rock and a hard place where my options are very limited. I can still write, but Christian Bible-based books are generally a hobby. God is squeezing me into a new mold where I will have to reinvent myself into a media geek. Whodathunkit?
After much pratyer and intense discussions with Betsy and our family, I have decided to turn half of our garage into a HD film studio to capture thirty years of teaching on You Tube. I want to systematically work my way through the Bible, do small clips called Life Lessons from books or sections of the Bible (for which I hope to develop an iPhone app), and offer my classes and seminars to people around the world in a kind of virtual school. I will receive a portion of every click on one of my videos through Google Adsense. They put short ads on the front end of the video that I can monitor for presentability. I will charge fees for classes and seminar podcasts off my website, radicalmiddle.net.
I have a good camera, lighting, and backdrops, which is a good start. I can't be in business, however, without software, software training, a good mic set up, and a bit more gear. In order to pull this off, I believe the Lord is asking me to take a leap of faith.
Would you consider sharing this project with your social networks and giving a small donation so I can start training, filming, editing, and posting high quality HD videos on the internet for the most biblically ignorant generation in history? I would be thankful if you would pray and give as the Lord leads. If 100 people gave $25 that would be $2,500! I alone have 1,137 friends on Facebook. What could be accomplished if your social networks were included? I want them to be able to be a part of the call on my life to share the storyline of the Bible around the world and to train another generation how to do it too.
