Ashley's Journey

A simple stop at a convenient store led me to a beautiful 37 year old woman struggling with addiction. She has no family and due to one thing after another her life turned upside down. She was sitting on a curb with trash bags thrown all around with clothing and her person belongings. A man was trying to coerce her to go with him when I intervened. TODAY she is 30 days sober... and her goal is to stay that way. She had a mother that died when she was 16, an aunt that followed and her grandmother two years ago. She was in rehab for 7 months until Covid hit and was put into a hotel where she relapsed. A "kind" man at a AA meeting offered her a room and he took advantage of her by physically abusing her. She escaped with a "friend" who wanted nothing more than money from her.... when she refused she was thrown out of the car with all that she had. That is when I met Ashley. I could not bring her into my home but asked for help on NextDoor and received a tip that led me to get her to a long term halfway house. I have been urged to start this page because SO many wonderful people want to help this young woman get her life back. She was a HS teacher, guidance counselor and did NOT come from nothing. Addiction changed all of that. I am asking for assistance to make sure her expenses can be covered while she is away. Money will not be given to this facility upfront until I feel sure all money goes directly to her housing ($50 per week) and a small amount of spending money for toiletries that she may need. Thank you to all for your many offers of assistance. I'm walking this journey step for step with Ashley... she has touched my heart and such a beautiful and kind soul. Thanks for any prayers you can send her way as well...
