AFI Film- WHERE THE WATER RUNS

Donation protected

I am pleased to present our graduate Thesis film “Where the Water Runs”

During my sophomore year at Morehouse, the Flint water crisis had just started to gain national attention. I was both saddened and motivated by the discoveries, and immediately began developing a story inspired by those events. This idea inspired our thesis film: "Where The Water Runs".  We were fortunate to create a proof of concept during our first year at AFI, to gauge whether or not the story was engaging and worth telling.

We were taken aback at the warm reception and overwhelming consensus that we should indeed move forward with this story; which in its developed form goes as follows:

Where the Water Runs tells the journey of Nasir, a 28 year old Ex-Marine living in Los Angeles during the most drastic and prolonged drought in the city's history. As a delivery truck driver for a water treatment/distribution plant, Nasir uncovers the plot to privitize the city's dwindiling water resources. Now equipped with this powerful information, Nasir must decide to take action or to maintain the status quo.

To make the film, we insisted that we had to get the community involved. And to date, we have been supported by three amazing groups such as the Challengers Boys and Girls club, the Ron Finley Project, and FLINT NOW based in Flint, MI.

Where the water runs is our passion and one that we strongly feel must be told; but in order to do so, we’ll require fund raising to launch us into the pre-production process.

We understand as students the prospects of raising money alone are extremely minimal, which is why we intend to use this campaign to fund our thesis film from principal photography to delivery; which is a requirement to graduate from AFI.

At the core, we desire to produce a quality film that will engage the audience emotionally and ultimately provokes change and positivity amongst all people.  Your donations, no matter the amount, will also allow us to do so.

Thank you for your consideration!
