A few months ago Cody starting feeling unwell. After several doctors appointments and chiropractic visits, he was showing no progress and only getting worse. At his last appointment, his doctor expressed concerns for lymphoma and sepsis. He was admitted to the hospital where he underwent multiple procedures and extensive tests until we finally received a lupus diagnosis. He is currently in a lupus crisis and will require chemotherapy treatments to destroy the double stranded DNA that are also causing problems. Although he is improving, he is still only at the beginning of his journey to getting better. As of right now he has no insurance and his rheumatologist notified us that each treatment he will need will cost $4,000. We are in the process of getting him on disability and getting insurance but it could be months before we are approved or denied. Once Cody is released from the hospital he will be able to do his treatments outpatient, but he will still require physical therapy and daily medications to ensure he does not get this sick again.
