AFGHANISTAN HUNGER APPEAL

Afghanistan is experiencing the world’s worst humanitarian crisis.

 

Nearly 23 million people or 55% of the country’s population are facing extreme levels of hunger according to the World Food Programme. Children are especially at risk with 3.2 million children under the age of 5 suffering from acute malnutrition.

 

These are not just numbers. They’re the lives of innocent women, children and families who deserve better! The horrifying conditions people in Afghanistan are suffering from while many of us live comfortably in our corner of the world is not just heartbreaking, it’s shameful. We must not leave them alone at a time when they need our help the most. We cannot ignore their suffering and their cries for help.

 

While my family and I have been feeling angry and helpless for the most part, this is a small attempt on our end to raise funds for those we can reach. We have trusted family and friends in different parts of Afghanistan who share gut-wrenching stories with us daily and plead that we do something to help. There are also families we know personally who are in a dire situation and have been consistently turning to us for help.

 

Since the Taliban take-over, food prices have skyrocketed, unemployment is at an all-time high, the economy has sharply declined, families cannot access their bank accounts, and displacement is a common story. The harsh winter is adding to the suffering of civilians as they struggle to make it through the rough season.

 

While my family and I have been doing what we can to help a few families, with your generous support we can alleviate starvation for as many families as possible.

 

This holiday season as you gather with your loved ones to share happy moments and abundant food, please spare a thought for the starving families in Afghanistan and contribute what you can to save lives and restore hope in humanity. We promise that 100% of your donations will go to the families who are in dire need. Our trusted contacts in Afghanistan will distribute the funds to struggling families so they can buy food. As much as we wish to share further information, out of respect for the privacy, dignity and safety of the beneficiaries, we can’t share personal details and photos. However, we can assure you that every cent you donate will be spent to support the needs of these families and alleviate their pain, trauma, and suffering.
