Safety and advocacy for at-risk Afghans

Tax deductible

Justness Project has been representing the people of Afghanistan for twelve years and we are not stopping now. The situation is urgent, deteriorating, fast moving and requires a long-term strategy.

We’ve launched Afghan Assist because immediate resources and tireless work is needed  - and we’re doing it, now. But when the headlines have changed, thousands of people will still be seeking justice in Afghanistan - some afraid for their lives, afraid for their families, without access to escape routes or legal avenues towards their basic rights.

Afghan Assist is an initiative launched by  a group of 20 volunteers with deep ties to Afghanistan, some of whom are still on the ground in Kabul.

We are working to:

- Advocate: for permission, documentation and safe passage to the airport, third country, or asylum countries for at-risk/vulnerable persons -- especially after the current evacuation.

- Represent: provide legal representation and advice to facilitate resettlement for Afghans. We're advocating for over 300 families and taking more on every day - the process is complex and laborious. We are working through the necessary advocacy processes as fast as we can - but it’s not fast enough.

- Secure: We’ll provide safe spaces and resources for those at risk who have not been able to leave, through our own initiatives and networks of support. As the situation evolves and basic requirements like food and shelter become necessary, so will we work to provide them.

- Support: We’ll provide psychosocial support for individuals as they navigate the complex mental and emotional landscape of such drastic change. We’ll do this by bringing together a roster of Pashto and Dari speaking mental health service providers from within Afghanistan and in the diaspora.

Help us keep at-risk families safe, advocate for their right and pathway to a secure life, and support mental and emotional health - now and when the world looks away.
