UPDATE: Great News! My Afghan friend received news that her family has been conditionally approved for Humanitarian Parole to come to the United States! Thank you to all who contributed financially as well as those who sent along warm wishes and positive thoughts. This family is over the moon joyful and relieved. They are hoping their family will arrive next month.

Hello I am Shauna . I am helping my friend Alina (name changed for privacy) petition for her parents and brother to come to the US on Humanitarian Parole. I was part of a neighborhood sponsor group that helped resettle Alina and her family in Alexandria, VA in 09/2021.
Alina and her husband worked for the US Embassy in Kabul, and were evacuated to the US two days before the capital fell to the Taliban in 08/2021. Flash forward 18 months later, both Alina and her husband have full-time jobs with good companies in human resources and logistics. They bought a car, and received their Legal Permanent Residency (Green Cards). Alina’s children now both speak fluent English and are thriving in first grade and pre-school. The six-year-old’s favorite cartoon is Bluey, and he calls his little sister “Bingo.”
Because of Alina’s role with the US Embassy, her parents and brother were not safe in Afghanistan, and they fled to Pakistan in 2022. To afford the $1,000 visas, they sold Alina's car in Afghanistan for 10% of its value. They are not allowed to work in Pakistan, and are often stopped by police and harassed. Alina is seeking humanitarian parole for them. She and her husband qualify financially to sponsor them once they are here, but need help raising the funds for their petition and travel. All donations will be sent directly to Alina's address here in Alexandria, VA via check directly from GoFundMe.
From Alina: "Thank you so much for any support you give to help my family be safe."
