Life-changing stem cell treatment for my dad.

Hi, my name is Emmanuel, and I am raising money for my dad's life-changing stem cell treatment. In 2003, my dad was the victim of an attempted homocide. He was shot at point-blank range. The bullet entered his throat and exited the jaw on the opposite side. He was then rushed to the hospital, where the odds of him making it was zero to none. Miraculously, the doctors were able to perform risky emergency surgery, despite the slim odds of him making it, that gave him a second chance at life. With years of rehab, my dad has been able to recover partially; however, his life changed drastically after that event.

The most significant change comes in the form of how he eats. During his surgery, the surgeons installed a G-tube in his stomach due to the damage he sustained to his throat. Since 2003, he has not gone out to a public restaurant to eat; he has not flown to go to a different state/country, and he opts to stay home all the time because he is highly embarrassed by the way he eats. Over time, my father became depressed and had no option but to learn to live with the fact he would never be able to lead a “normal” life again. He has also lost a tremendous amount of weight (50 lbs after the accident). A couple of years ago, my dad attempted to eat orally; unfortunately, he aspirated and was rushed to the hospital again. He then lost about 30 pounds more. The doctors told him if this were to happen again, he would lose his life. He has never tried again.

He has been unable to work since the accident resulting in years of financial dependency.

My dad has also been diagnosed with a mild form of glaucoma that, if left untreated, progressively worsens over time. 

To top it all off, my dad has an elevated prostate PSA level of 7.2. The standard is usually considered below four, and anything above four can indicate prostate cancer. Just another worry to add to the list.

My dad is the sweetest man you'd ever meet. He always puts others first and goes above and beyond to help anyone out without ever asking for anything in return. We recently discovered the possibilities of stem cells. We met with a doctor who told us he could completely heal my dad's throat, enabling him to eat normally again. He also said the treatment could bring his prostate levels down to a healthy level and cure his glaucoma. This is truly a second chance at life for my father.
