Dear Soccer Supporters,
Mobile and Baldwin County have long been overlooked as a possible soccer power in the country. When the board of AFC Mobile came into existence, it was because of the sheer passion that we saw in the supporters for the game. Whether it was the Mobile chapter of the US Men’s and Women’s National team supporters group, American Outlaws (Alabama’s oldest chapter), cheering them on during the World Cup, the players in the South Alabama Soccer Association every weekend at Sage Park, the powerhouse state high school soccer programs in McGill-Toolen, Bayside Academy, and Fairhope High School, or the non-stop leagues across the bay in Founders and Trione Park, we knew that this region had the passion for success.
The board of AFC Mobile has been working for the last few years to get the excitement level to grow and the name of AFCM to mean something within the soccer community. For Mobile to have the success that it deserves and their own soccer team to support, everyone must come together.
We have been working to raise funds to compete in a nationally accredited league. A league whose winner earns a berth in the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup (the second oldest soccer tournament in the world, which involves every amateur and professional team in the United States). The cost is modest and reasonable, but we need your help.
We humbly ask for the help of Mobile-area soccer supporters to help push us over the top in our work. We are trying to raise $5,000 to supplement our other fundraising efforts. This money will only ever be used for equipment and travel costs for our team to successfully compete.
We are hoping to raise the money by April 30th. It would be something we are ever grateful for and a huge step in the completion of this dream for our area. We hope that you will donate whatever support you can -even if it is word of mouth and attendance to our games when we kick off.
Thank you for everything you do in the growth of AFC Mobile and the Mobile soccer scene.
