On Sunday evening my 5 year old cat Domino suddenly lost interest in food and began vomiting. When we went to the vet on Monday morning, the vet was unable to identify any issues as he was not presenting with any pain or notable discomfort, only a lack of appetite and generally not being himself. They suspected that he may just be nauseous and sent us home with anti-nausea medication.

On Tuesday, Domino had no significant changes to his behavior. He was still disinterested in food, generally unlike himself, and gagged whenever he smelled food or water. I made the soonest appointment I could with my vet.

This morning, Wednesday November 5th, we went back to the vet for more in-depth diagnostics. The diagnostics uncovered that Domino had swallowed a piece of string which had wrapped around his tongue and was now causing an obstruction in his intestines. The string had gone far enough into his intestines that they could not simply pull it out now and they have some concern that it may have caused damage.

At the time of writing this Domino is in the emergency vet awaiting surgery. I have been told that his chances are good by one vet, and that things are risky by another. Thanks to some very generous friends I was able to cover the cost upfront, but I need assistance in paying them back and covering the bill should there be any further complications.
