Help Schneider Family with Funeral Costs
Donation protected
Update 10/12/2024:
It's with a heavy heart to state that David lost his battle with kidney cancer. He put up one heck of a fight and will be greatly missed.
The family is asking for donations to help with funeral costs. Anything is greatly appreciated.
Update 10/08/2024:
This past Saturday evening, David went to the ER thinking he was suffering from side effects of medicine he is on. On his way there he became incoherent and unable to understand his surroundings or what was going on. He was running a 103 fever at this time. The ER doctor had ordered a CT scan and while David was being prepped his heart stopped. CPR was performed and he was revived and Life Flighted to Robert Packard in Sayre, PA. He currently is on a ventilator, receiving 24 hour dialysis to help clean out all toxins in his blood that his liver is now failing to do. A 4cm in diameter mass has been located on his liver as well. His body temperature isn't regulating as he is always cold. The good news at the moment is when sedation is lifted a bit, he does respond to commands and voices. The doctors are hoping to remove the ventilator in the next couple of days and decisions will be made on what the next steps are.
Please pray for him.
David we love you so much.
Update 9/6/2024:
This past Wednesday, it was decided by David's oncologist to go to the ER as his creatinine level, or kidney number, was too high according to blood work done the prior Tuesday. After blood work and tests in the ER, we found out his potassium level was dangerously high as well. David was given medicines to help bring his potassium number down and was admitted to the hospital.
Doctors decided as his kidney function is at 15%, David should start dialysis, having his first round today. At the moment, he will continue dialysis daily and will be in the hospital for a minimum of a week. Please pray for him.
Update 7/28/2024:
So with doctor discussions it's been decided to continue this mode of treatment until a new set of MRI scans will be done end of August/beginning of September time frame. Hoping this current treatment works.
Weekly appointments/blood work with Broome Oncology continue and follows ups with Roswell Park in Buffalo as well.
David was diagnosed at the young age of 40 with Kidney Cancer in November 2019. Since his diagnosis, David has had one kidney removed and has been on cancer immunotherapy treatments since March 2020. after a small mass has appeared on a lymph node, treatment continued with positive results. With a great relief, the mass was determined cleared during 2022. After a few months of enjoying life with his daughter and fiancé everything changed. Beginning of May of 2023 after a routine series of scans it was discovered that the cancer had returned very aggressively and was now affecting the remaining kidney. Roughly a year of a new treatment unfortunately had severe side effects for David leaving him with many trips to the ER. Dealing with a DVT, deep vein thrombosis, going on blood thinners and needing a kidney stent. It was decided to stop this treatment and look for alternative treatment. With very few options, we decided to consult with some specialty facilities, Sloan Kettering in NYC, Roswell Park in Buffalo and Updated Medical in Syracuse. Between these doctors and a major decision has been made to remove the remaining kidney. This will place David on dialysis for the foreseeable future until a living donor can be located. This brings us to the end of June 2024. Everything was looking to proceed with the right kidney removal when the doctors discovered some concerning spots on his liver. After a biopsy it was determined that the cancer has also started to spread to the liver. This discovery stopped our plan in its tracks. As of right now they have placed David back on an aggressive immunotherapy while we continue to consult with Roswell Park & Upstate Medical what the next steps of action will be. As you can imagine this has placed tremendous stress mentally and financially to the family.
A donation of $50 can help cover co-pays and fuel to and from hospital visits.
I am asking for prayers for David. Thank you for your prayers, donations and love.
