I want to introduce you to my best friend and her amazing son who are in a position that no parent ever wants to be in.
1st of all, Aryn is 23 yrs old and has his whole life ahead of him still. He's fighting every day now for that opportunity. A little over a year ago he was extremely healthy, vibrant and an exceptional athlete, then what was thought to be a bad cold got worse and he walked into the ER hoping for help. After many tests, his numbers were so low that they couldn't understand how he was even conscious. Specialists were called in and many many more tests were done and he was admitted for the 1st time of what would end up to be many extremely long stays. It was determined that he has T-cell Acute Lymphatic Leukemia and will need a bone marrow transplant. He is currently in the Moffitt center right now. He has been in and out of the Moffitt Center for over a year now undergoing treatment after treatment trying to get this under control to no avail.
Aryn's mother Michelle is my best friend and is doing everything she can for him including, unfortunately continuing to work just so that she can provide the extremely expensive insurance that is being required for his care. However, as a result, the medical and home bills are mounting and they are in need of the second opinion. These bills are growing at an exponential rate and she is torn between work and every other moment being at the hospital. Michelle is an amazing single mother and trying to concentrate on her son's care while also caring for her other teenage daughter and son. If you can please find it in your heart to help them in any way to maybe ease the worry for her and her children while keeping the hope that they will get Aryn's leukemia into remission so that he can get the bone marrow transplant that he so desperately needs, that would be amazing. Thank you for any help possible. It is truly needed and appreciated.
