Top Surgery for Ben (First generation Med Student)

Hey Everyone! My name is Ben and I am a trans-man, queer Desi activist, and second year medical student. I am an immigrant from Bangladesh and the first in my family to graduate college. I have a twin sister who I love very much that suffers from Lupus which was one of my inspirations to pursue medicine. I have been through many hardships in my life from living in a family that went from paycheck to paycheck, being ostracized by my community because I was queer, and having to assist my family where the only income maker was my father that earned his living through Taxi driving. However, I did not let any of my hardships stop me from getting to where I am now but I have many hurdles that I have yet to overcome.

Because my family does not make much I am looking at being over $200,000 in debt due to the financial costs of school but one of the most emergent needs I have is getting Top Surgery for my Gender Dysphoria. I have almost no savings because I am living off of loans and my dysphoria can be very debilitating to my self worth and esteem. I always spread positive energy to my peers, classmates, friends, and patients regardless of how I feel about my body but I would like that to change. I want to feel good about myself and continue to spread the love I have for the world to others. I am going to be one of the only few transgender doctors in Atlanta once I graduate so I would like to be a valuable resource to the Atlanta community.  Luckily insurance is covering a large chunk of the costs that I need for my surgery but I am still several thousand dollars short of how much I have to pay. 

Your donation will cover my deductible, copay, costs to obtain letters for prior authorization, travel, and aftercare. If by some miracle that I end up raising far above the amount that I need for my surgery and post care, the rest will go to Transcending Barriers. A local organization that provides resources and aid to Atlanta's transgender population. I promise to keep updating this campaign as more developments are made and post lots of cute pictures!
