Hi, my name is Rikki Barney, and my mother Nikki Barney was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 1991, at the age of 40. She has been treating her illness with medication ever since, and at the ripe old age of 70, she's still kicking!

That said, her MS medications is quite costly. Without insurance, the cost of her monthly self administered Avonex would be over $6,000. Luckily, her insurance covers the majority of this medication, but private insurance copays can become cost prohibitive. Having been on disability for 30 years-along with social security and a meager pension provided by her deceased husband's union welding days - her income is limited. When she is hit with home repairs and unforeseen life expenses, she often cannot afford to cover her monthly meds.

My goal with this GoFundMe is to provide my mom with some financial relief in the months where she is unable to meet her copay costs, or when she misses out on a grant for medical assistance. Please consider making a donation; everything helps!
