Fernando's Medical Fund

Hi my name is Anna, and I am writing this today on behalf of my whole family.  Thank you for taking the time to read this today.  This is about our  Brother-in-law Fernando Castro. He is married to our beautiful sister Judy. They both are in their 50’s. They have three grown children, Alicia, Alina, and Brandon. They reside in Everett, Washington. Their heartbreaking situation started when our sister Judy went in for a hysterectomy 23 years ago, she ended up losing a lot of blood during the procedure and needed a blood transfusion. This was during the time when facilities did not check the blood for certain diseases. She ended up contracting Hepatitis C from that blood she received. She did not know she had it for some time and by the time she discovered it, her husband Fernando was diagnosed with it too.
      Now moving forward to today, they have received  devastating news that Fernando has developed Liver Cancer; it is called Hepatocellular Carcinoma or (HCC), which develops in the fourth stage of Hepatitis C. This whole thing has happened so fast for them. Judy had gone in for a liver biopsy about a month ago and discovered she was in stage 3 of the Hepatitis C. She was working on getting the treatment plan set up for  her. She knew Fernando was going to need to be treated as well and made an appointment for him to get his liver checked too. Before hearing the results of his test, they went on a family vacation to Yellowstone and came back to hear the awful news about Fernando’s condition. He is hospitalized as I am typing this. We are hoping he can be moved to the UW, which is where he was supposed to end up, with hopes that there would be a clinical study, or some other form of treatment he could get started on that would help him. They have also discovered that there is cancer in his lungs.
      This is a family that has always been there to help with anything a family member or a friend ever needed. Fernando is a great husband, awesome father, loving, giving, caring, trustworthy, compassionate, hard-worker, and always happy regardless of the circumstances. His laughter and smile are contagious!!! We are praying that this family receives back the blessing they themselves have bestowed upon so many. Judy will be starting her treatment soon and/while still trying to take of her husband. The medical bills are going to start piling up, the missing days of work, etc. We are asking for your generosity to help this family in need. I was not sure what to set the goal for, but I know that any amount of money will help out and will be greatly appreciated. If there are encouraging words to help give them strength that is appreciated too!! We know that their ultimate strength will come from God. But there is power in knowing prayers are being lifted up and that there are family, friends, and strangers standing on the front lines encouraging you along the way. We thank you for your caring thoughts and kindness.....God Bless.
