Aerilyn Zigmont

Aerilyn Zigmont is the lovely and vivacious only child of Bobby and Sharon Zigmont. She is 2 years old and full of personality. On Saturday March 11, her family pet, Dash, a cocker spaniel, attacked her without warning. This pet has been with the family for many years and has never shown any signs of aggression. The bite inflicted by Dash severed through multiple layers of muscle on Aerilyns upper lip. 

Sharon is a part-time news reporter and Bobby serves as a Bixby Police Officer. Their insurance does not include St. Francis Children's Hospital in their network.  However, Bobby and Sharon were told that the pediatric plastic surgeon that specialized in this type of surgery was at St. Francis and they needed to be at that hospital to receive the best care for Aerilyn.

The good news is that the surgery was a great success, Aerilyn is not in pain due to her excellent care, and there are high hopes that with follow-up care and careful attention to her lip and face, Aerilyn will have minimal scarring. 

The difficult news is that thousands of dollars in out of network medical expenses, such as the ambulance ride, the hospital stay, anesthesiologist, and plastic surgeon, are looming over this precious family.  Just a couple of months ago, they had a devastating miscarriage and found themselves forced to seek medical attention out of network at that time as well. Currently, they are paying off the costs for the procedures necessary to address Sharon's miscarriage and will now add Aerilyn's medical expenses to the debt. 

In addition, they had to impound their dog Dash, and will be paying for those fees until they can arrange for a Cocker Spaniel rescue to hopefully adopt him.  They are devastated by what Dash did to Aerilyn, but had a long and loving relationship with this family pet until this event, and are also dealing with saying a permanent good-bye to a dog they love.
