Help Us Give Rosie the Care She Deserves

Rosie is just 2.5 years old, but she’s already endured more than most dogs ever will. She isn’t just our dog—she’s family. Her presence is grounding, joyful, and full of love. She offers comfort without ever asking for anything in return, and now she needs our help.

We recently received heartbreaking news: Rosie needs surgery to treat her knees. The procedure, called Medial Patella Luxation Correction, is essential to prevent her from losing mobility and living in constant pain. Right now, she hurts every day—and we’re doing everything we can to help her.

We’ve explored every option, but the cost of the surgery has outpaced what we can manage alone. The minimum estimate is $18,000, which includes the procedure, post-operative care, and follow-up treatments. However, the full scope of costs won’t be known until imaging is completed—and additional needs may arise depending on what the scans reveal.

Rosie's Journey: From Surviving to Thriving

Rosie’s story didn’t begin in a warm home—it began behind a grocery store in Corpus Christi, Texas, where she was found desperately searching for food near the dumpsters. She was heartbreakingly thin, barely able to stand, and riddled with heartworms and hookworms.

Our friends who first saw her weren’t sure she’d survive the night. She was rushed into emergency care, and for a moment, they thought she might be pregnant—but it was just the garbage she’d been eating to stay alive.

A kind and compassionate family stepped in to foster Rosie during her most fragile days. They helped her through the painful and exhausting heartworm treatments, offering comfort, safety, and love when she needed it most.

Thanks to their generosity, Rosie was finally ready for adoption—and we’re still in touch with them, proudly sharing updates about the joyful, goofy dog she’s become.

Rosie survived. And once she was safe, she began to heal—slowly, steadily, and with the kind of spirit only the most resilient souls carry. Today, she chases toys with abandon, cuddles like it’s her job, and fills our home with laughter and love.

Rosie’s journey to us wouldn’t have been possible without the incredible support of STAR Group (South Texas Animal Rescue Group). Their dedication to saving lives gave Rosie the chance to heal after her time on the streets—and ultimately, to find her forever home.

We’re endlessly grateful to STAR Group for giving Rosie a second chance at life. Their compassion made her healing journey possible.

They also arranged her transport with Paws Cruisaders, aboard a converted school bus named Nirshira, lovingly transformed into a safe haven for adoptable pets. This rolling lifeline carried Rosie and other animals across states, with volunteers ensuring every dog was cared for along the way.

We’re thankful for the volunteers who made Rosie’s long journey one of hope and care. It was a four-day trip, but it was well worth the wait to welcome this sweet girl home.

When she stepped off the bus in Oregon, she was quiet and unsure—but her eyes held so much hope. That moment marked the beginning of her new chapter: one filled with toys, cuddles, and the kind of love that doesn’t let go.

Rosie needs one major surgical procedure to correct a painful structural issue in her legs. The exact nature of the surgery depends on what imaging reveals.

In the best-case scenario, the procedure will be straightforward. But if the issue is more severe, the surgical team may need to cut and shorten her leg bones to realign her limbs and relieve her pain.

We won’t know the full scope until imaging is completed—and even then, the plan may evolve based on what they find.
