Our names are Cristina and Amber. Laura is our best friend of more than 25 years! About 2 months ago, Laura’s 16 year daughter, Mary, was injured at cheer practice. She ended up in the ER with a concussion. Unfortunately during testing, they ended up finding a 3cm pineal tumor. After being sent to Wolfsons for some further testing, it was decided that a biopsy needed to be done as well as completing an EVT (creating a 4th ventricle to alleviate the fluid build up).

The biopsy results were not what we had hoped for. Mary has been diagnosed with a Grade IV pineal parenchymal pineoblastoma. So now the fight is on. She will receive her port and start chemo next week.

Laura had already missed a lot of work due to numerous appointments and hospital stays. She has already exhausted her PTO. She will have to continue to miss work without pay as Mary fights this battle.
