Help the Adwan Family Get out of Gaza

My name is Julie I am the former local coordinator for both Aya and Yazan when they were exchange students. I am trying to help this family to escape the war in Gaza, so they can live a better life.

My name is Aya Adwan, I am 21 years old, and was born and raised in Gaza. I graduated law school from Al-Azhar University of Gaza in June 2023. I am currently doing my master’s in Belgium. I had previously come to the United States as an exchange student in 2017-2018 in Chicago, as well as my younger brother, Yazan, in 2022-23. My family is currently trapped in Gaza and has escaped death miraculously countless times since the start of the war.

I left Gaza only a month before the war had started. I left with hope that I will be starting a new chapter, experiencing new adventures and enjoying life, but that did not last long. A month after I traveled, my life and my family’s lives have completely changed horrifically. For the past 60 days, I have been living in a nightmare; inconstant fear that I will lose my family. They now have been displaced three times, lost their home because it was bombed, and they have nothing left. I have been desperate to find ways to get my family out of Gaza. Australia is one route I am trying, however, due to the current situation, we are in need of financial assistance to help my family out of the Strip.

Thus, I am turning to the community that welcomed me and my brother warmly as exchange students to be the possible light of hope for my family and help them out.

This fundraiser is set up for the purpose of covering the expenses of getting my family to Egypt, plane tickets to Australia, and a place to stay at for a couple of days.
