Meet Aiden! He is a 6 year old boy who has been diagnosed with a rare heart condition, is unable to walk on his own, is non-verbal, and also autistic.
Let's start from the beginning.. When Aiden was born, what we thought was a normal healthy little boy, turned into a baby who was having seizures, turning blue and not breathing on multiple occasions. Aiden spent the first 8 months of his life in and out of C.S. Motts Children's Hospital. Test after test, the doctors finally diagnosed him with Left Ventricle Noncompaction Cardiomyopathy and 1p36 Deletion Syndrome. He has never been able to walk on his own, or talk. Though Aiden has spent many years in Physical Therapy, it's taken him as far as it's able to. Aiden has an opportunity to get into a new state of the art facility to help, but it isn’t free. Insurance doesn’t cover it.
Aiden has an opportunity to walk and talk with the help of “Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy, (HBOT)” which is a specialized form of medical treatment administered by delivering 100% pure oxygen to the body through increased atmospheric pressure which incorporates more oxygen into the tissues. Also, “Intensive Physical Therapy AKA TheraSuit or Suit Therapy” which is an intensive therapy that is designed to facilitate muscle activation while also providing support via compression/proprioceptie input which is pressure from our body's joints. It allows our body to develop correct alignment while also learning new motor skills. The Therasuit has so many benefits.. Including improving balance, coordination, and body awareness, normalization of tone, strengthening weak or underdeveloped muscles, retraining the central nervous system and many more!
Aiden has such a fun, and loving personality. He is the happiest, go lucky little guy around. He is aware and wants to explore new things and wants to communicate! There are a lot of studies with these programs that can help Aiden walk and talk. We are asking for help to make Aidens life better, since Aiden can’t ask for himself. His family and loved ones are Advocating for Aiden. We hope you will too
