Advocate for Catie's Educational Rights

I am raising money for my daughter, Catie, who is an autistic individual who is also nonverbal and has severe developmental delays. We moved to Washington from Massachusetts, and it has been a struggle with the schools here. Washington is paying schools to get their special education students into full inclusion, which is nice in theory. But my daughter's cognitive tests have all put her at a preschool developmental level, and her school is forcing her into typical 8th grade classes. They have denied FBAs until her behavior became so out of control she became a danger to other students instead of granting us the FBA when we saw she was heading that direction. We have resorted to medication to control her behaviors, something we have NEVER had to do in her life. Most SPED programs have been able to get Catie back to a normal routine after a month or two of her testing the waters and following our advice on how to set boundaries for her. This school is the only school that has not listened to us and continues to force her into typical classrooms when she has clearly indicated it is too much. This same school district is refusing to transfer her to the school in district that does have a sub-separate classroom setting for her because of "staffing issues" while they put my classroom over cap without having the staff needed. We want to hire an advocate to get Catie the supports she needs and fast. The longer she is in this school, the more she regresses and the more violent she becomes. Any little bit helps our girl. The advocate we found offers a package and this money will cover us until the end of next year.
