Adult Bone Marrow Transplant
Donation protected
I've never done this before. In fact, in keeping with the idiotic way most men behave, I don't ask for help.
This time is different. If there's only one time in my life I ask for help, this is it.
My lovely wife, Lisa has a rare & debilitating disease named Chronic Granulomatous Disease (+ Granulomatous Hepatitis).
She didn't deserve to be born with this condition and I believe she deserves a chance at a life that most normal & healthy people take for granted.
Why is Lisa special?
She's the first person in Australia with this condition to give birth to a child, though it wasn't easy.
Her C-section wound was open for 11 months after the birth of our daughter, Gracie. During this time, I was dressing the wound every couple of days & driving her to clinics multiple times per week for monitoring. This ordeal is just an example of the types of challenges Lisa's condition typically impresses upon us.
She's now been offered an adult bone marrow transplant in Sydney. She will be away from us (in Hobart) for at least 3 months, depending on recovery.
The potential cure is worth the risk and this is just a token of how brave my wife truly is.
I'm hoping to raise money to help Gracie (now 5) and I fly over a couple of times, to visit her during this time and also contribute to the accommodation / food, etc we're paying for, for Lisa.
I'd also love to get Lisa one or two items of comfort, as she's not going to be able to leave her room for a long time.
If you can contribute to helping to keep our family together during this, our most daunting challenge yet, you will be truly blessing a family in need.
