On New Years Eve Adrien suffered major injuries from an accidental firework explosion. He has severe damages to his face, eye, jaw and ears. Adrien was flown to Oahu that night and on January 1st they cleaned the burnt area and prepped it for surgery. He is currently in the ICU and once the swelling goes down, they will work on repairing his jaw. He has more surgeries to go and a long road ahead of him.
Adrien works full time and has a child on the way. We are asking for any support to cover medical bills and help Adrien recover and get back to his family.
Update 1/05
Adrien is out of the ICU though extremely swollen. On Friday doctors were able to take out the breathing and feeding tubes and his jaw surgery was done. There are several potential procedure that he may needs. We will update more once there's a better understanding and the swelling goes down.
The good news is, that Adrien is healing faster than doctors expected. Please continue to pray, send good vibes, and think of him and his family.
Update 1/08
On Monday 1/6 Adrien was seen by a speech therapist to see if he would be able to eat after the jaw surgery. Unfortunately doctors won't allow him to eat regularly due to the risk of infection inside and outside of his mouth. He is currently being fed 20-40 mg a day through a feeding tube. The doctors estimate that he has to do this for about two weeks then they will see how he is healed after that.
Update 1/16
Yesterday, 1/15 Adrien had a surgery to reinsert a tube that drains his saliva in his mouth. It had fallen out and the doctors wanted to see how he would do without it but everything he drank would come out of the side of his face where his cheek was hit. The nerves need to completely heal and regrow on that side of his cheek for it to fully close.
We are just waiting for him to heal at this point. Then in about three weeks the doctors will see if Adrien will need an additional surgery to put screws in his jaw.
Update 1/22
Today at about 10am doctors told Adrien he could go home! They kept telling him different dates for about the past week and decided today he was good to go home. He is currently on Maui. He still has the drain tube in and was told that it will fall out on its own when the inside and outside of his face fully heals. He will also need to fly back to Oahu for check ups.
Though he won’t be able to eat regular food for a few weeks, we are glad that he is home and headed in the right path to recovery.
Thank you to those who donated, kept him in your thoughts and prayers over the last few weeks.
