In December, Adria developed a large blister on her heel. What seemed like a small wound quickly became a major challenge. After seeing her Nurse Practitioner, she was sent to wound care in Groesbeck, where we learned the wound was caused by the swelling in her legs — a side effect of chemotherapy.
For four months, Adria attended wound care appointments at $100 each, all while battling the physical toll chemotherapy has taken on her body. She has been in a wheelchair for the past nine months. In that time, her legs have atrophied, and her core muscles have weakened so much that she still cannot stand, much less walk.
Recently, she received a new leg, but the work ahead is enormous — and unfortunately, she has exhausted her therapy benefits with her TRS insurance. She spends 12–14 hours a day in her heated wheelchair and needs help just to get on the couch.
Adria has been fighting for two years now — first against cancer, and now to regain her mobility and independence. She’s determined, but they can’t do this alone.
We’re asking for your help to cover:
• Out-of-pocket physical therapy sessions
• Transportation to therapy and medical appointments
• Medical supplies and adaptive equipment
• Ongoing wound care and prosthetic adjustments
Any amount you can give will go directly toward helping Adria get the care she needs to stand, walk, and live her life with dignity again. If you can’t donate, please consider sharing her story.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for your kindness, prayers, and support.
