Adriana Suarez Memorial

Adriana Yeslendy Suarez Saavedra was a young woman who was beloved by all who were lucky enough to know her. She was a loving sister, daughter and friend. Adriana was passionate about many things, but most of all, soccer. It was a way of life for her since she was very young, providing an escape from life's challenges and giving her something to look forward to every day.
Adriana was in the United States working as a Lifeguard as part of the BridgeUSA Summer Work and Travel Program. Like all participants of this program, she planned to work and explore the area where she was living in Maryland until Labor Day Weekend and then had plans to travel the country, including fulfilling her dream of seeing Niagara Falls. On Saturday, July 8, 2023, in the early morning, this dream was cut short. Adriana was struck by a vehicle while riding her bike. The driver of the vehicle did not stop, and Adriana was left laying in the roadway for an unknown amount of time until a passerby noticed her and called the police. She was rushed to the shock trauma center of a nearby hospital, where she fought for her life for over a week before ultimately passing away from her injuries. Her sister, Karol, was able to travel from Colombia to be by her side just in time to say goodbye before Adriana passed away on Tuesday, July 18th.
We have started this fundraiser in Adriana's honor to help her sister and her family cover any unforeseen medical expenses, as well as any expenses associated with transporting Adriana back home to Colombia. Any funds that are not used for these purposes will be donated in Adriana's memory to a charity that embodies her passion for soccer and works to make soccer an accessible outlet for youth all over the world: Soccer Without Borders
On behalf of all those who love Adriana, we thank you for your support.
