Adrian Maurice Cary Scholarship: Empower Education

Tax deductible
Join us in this Giving Campaign as we carry forward the light of Adrian’s legacy. Every contribution strengthens the Adrian Maurice Cary Scholarship Foundation and opens doors for students striving to reach their educational and career goals. Your generosity doesn’t just fund scholarships—it fuels hope, opportunity, and the belief that every dream deserves a chance.

Adrian Maurice Cary’s life was defined by love, responsibility, and an unwavering determination to build a better future for his family. A proud 1999 graduate of Fluvanna County High School, Adrian began his college journey at Virginia Commonwealth University. When he became a father to his first child, Alana, he made the courageous decision to leave school and work full time so he could provide for her. His devotion to his growing family only deepened with the arrival of his second child, Amani.

For seven years, Adrian worked tirelessly at the Walmart Distribution Center in Zion Crossroads. Yet even while balancing long hours and the demands of parenthood, he never let go of his belief in education. He understood that earning a degree would open doors—not just for himself, but for the future he envisioned for his children.

With remarkable perseverance, Adrian returned to college at East Coast Polytechnic Institute (ECPI), where he juggled full time work, fatherhood, and rigorous coursework. His determination paid off in 2015 when he proudly earned his Bachelor of Science in Computer and Information Science. Soon after, he launched a new career as an Information Technology professional, a testament to his resilience and commitment to growth.

Adrian passed away in 2019 due to complications from heart surgery, but his spirit continues to inspire everyone who knew him. His journey reflects the challenges many young people face—balancing work, family, and financial barriers while striving for a better life. His story is a reminder that perseverance, sacrifice, and hope can transform futures.

To honor his legacy, we established the Adrian Maurice Cary Scholarship Foundation, dedicated to supporting FCHS graduates who are pursuing college, community college, or vocational and technical training. Our mission is to remove the financial burdens that often stand in the way of opportunity—just as Adrian once faced.

Your generous donation helps us continue Adrian’s legacy of determination, love, and opportunity. All contributions are tax deductible and directly support students striving to achieve their dreams.
