Hello to all,
We here at Calvary Lutheran Church and School would like to invite you to help support one of our families in need here by making a donation to help with the medical expenses that are adding up.
Michael Schibler, (Miss Nancy's husband and Hannah's father) had a stroke back in December and has been in a rehab facility since then. Mike has had a few struggles and set backs, he had to undergo surgery to have a portion of his skull removed to help releive the swelling that was causing too much pressure on the brain, and after 5 months he will go back to surgery to have the part of his skull that was removed put back into place. He also had an infection that set in and he had to be refturned to the hospital for better observation and treatment. His left side has been paralized due to the stroke and he is doing therapy to try and regain use. At this time he is at a rehab facility in Hayward and they are planning to discharge him later this week to go home.
Here's where YOU can help out. Insurance will not cover any of the DME (durable medical equipment) that Michael will need once he is home, and there are several items he will need in order to make a smooth transition to life at home. Bed, Hoyer lift and chair are just a few of the things that they will have to purchase or rent to make life eaiser for Michael and those around him helping with his care once he is home. The insurance also does not cover any Home Health Nurse or Aides to come to the home so this will be another big expense for the family.
For those who do not know Michael he and Nancy have been married for 25 years and the have two beautiful children, Matthew & Hannah. he is an instructor of Culinary Science at Eden ROP, he loves his job teaching the students about his passion. FOOD. As well as teaching them skills they will need in life such as filling out an application or writing a resume. He takes great joy in knowing that he has helped so many student that may not have any other support system outside of his classroom. Michael is a devoted member of his church and enjoys playing the harmonica in the church band and working with the youth group. He loves to spend time with his children and go on adventures with them with Nancy by his side. Besides his family and church Michael also reaches out to those in the comminty that are less fortunate then he by helping out at Store House ministries in Oakland, making meals for the homless and shut ins. He felt great joy in being able to help others all while teaching his children the importance of helping others.
We would like to thank all of those who have taken a moment to get to know Michael and his family and what they are going through at this time. We hope that you will be able to find it in your hearts and wallets to help them out (anything helps). The monies that are collected will go directly to the family so that they can purchase or rent the equipment that he will need and cover some of the hospital expenses that have been growing.
One last thing is please keep Michael and the family in your thoughts and prayers.
God's blessing to all.
