Adopting Baby Roggie

Hi, we are Josh and Dannika Roggie!

 

They say it takes a village to raise a child, and we’ve always known this is true! However, we had no idea just how true this would prove to be in order for us to even HAVE a child. We have struggled with infertility for our entire 9 1/2 years of marriage. Over the years we have tried several different methods of improving our fertility. We have had seven heartbreaking miscarriages. We considered IVF, but two things stopped us:

 

1) We were not ideal candidates, because GETTING pregnant was not our only problem. Miscarriage after miscarriage was only partially explained by Dannika’s PCOS, and the rest was unexplained.

 

2) From the very start of our relationship we talked about adoption, and even though it was under different circumstances, we personally still felt so much peace about choosing to love and care for a child already coming into this world.

 

So… we decided to adopt!

 

We are adopting an infant, domestically. Get excited for baby Roggie!

 

You may or may not know, but adoption can be quite expensive! We are doing as much as we can to save up and budget our own money to cover as much of the cost as possible, but we know we can’t do this alone. And many of you don’t even want us to do it alone! So many wonderful people have been with us on this journey of trying to build our little family, and are eager to help us add a new character to our story!

 

Why $30,000?

The adoption agency we are with has given an estimated cost for this process. It IS an estimation, so it may end up being less, or more.

 

Where will your money be going?

Your contribution is going into our adoption process. Pretty much every single penny is going to the adoption agency. We do need to do a small amount of work to the house to get it ready for our Home Study, so a small portion may go to that, although we are planning on covering that ourselves. The adoption process IS costly, but don’t feel like the future of our child hinges on your dollar amount! We know this is meant to be, it’s just a matter of exactly how and when. Your generosity is helping ease the burden of paying for such a large expense. For example, we have the option to get a reimbursement for a certain amount from Josh’s employer, but not until we already have our child home with us. While this is something we are grateful for, it doesn’t help the burden of expenses needing to be paid throughout the process.

 

When will you have your child?

The honest answer is: no idea. Adoption is not a quick process, and we want everyone who contributes here to understand that your generosity now does not mean an immediate baby! It could, in fact, be a few years before our dear baby Roggie joins us, because the selection process can take quite some time. We need the funding now in order to move through each step of the process to get to our baby!

 

Regardless of what you give, we are so incredibly grateful. We are grateful for the support, the encouragement, and yes, the generosity. The journey of having a baby has been long, and not easy. We could never have walked this road alone, and we don’t plan to start now!

*UPDATE: We have turned in our paperwork for our Home Study and Training agreement, and paid the fee for that step of $2,700. Our next payment will be $9,000!!! That is especially challenging for us, so please help us share, share, share! And a HUGE thank you to everyone who has donated and helped us get this far! You directly contributed to us paying that $2,700 home study fee! We appreciate you so much!
